New Technologies
In Stirling we are always eager to embrace new technologies and work with schools to see if these new initiatives witll enhance the teaching and learning in the schools.
At the moment we have some schools piloting such initiatives.
Nintendo DS lites.
Look at the work carried out in Dundee with the Nintendo DS lites as reported on the BBC website.
Wii and Playstation
Mission Maker,gaming design software.
You can go to the Learning and Teaching Scotland website to view what we are currently working on in Stirling.
——————————————————————————————
I have just attended a two day meeting of SICDG at Stirling Management Centre where we looked at Future Technologies. John Low from LTS led this with the help of Derek Robertson, Andrew Brown and Alan Yeoman.
We were introduced to Voice thread, Toondoo, Voki on day 1 and then Second Life, Geo Tagging, Nintendo Lites with Phoenix Wright and My Word Coach, Nintendo Wii with Endles Ocean and theĀ X box with Viva Pinata.
The two days gave us much to think about and created much discussion especially about the use and need of blogs.
I have looked more closely at voive thread and can see where this can be used in a class – especially as there is no need to purchase or install software. Will be speaking to a school about this next week.
I would like a school in the fourth term to work with the Wii and Ocean World, so need to look into this. I have seen the case study on guitar hero and may go along the same lines.
All in all a really good two days.
